Respiratory Failure
Team,
We are having trouble with a Pulmonologist not wanting to document "chronic respiratory failure" for patients going home with supplement oxygen. He will document sats of 80% on room air with dyspnea and the need for the patient to go home with supplemental oxygen but he doesn't like saying respiratory failure.
Does anyone have any guidelines with clinical indicators for respiratory failure. We had this at one time on a query but our queries are processed by 3M now and do not have the guidelines.
Thanks,
Syndi
