TAVR
Can anyone help me with selection of the correct "root operation" for a TAVR or Transfemoral aortic valve replacement procedure? I believe it would be "replacement" because once the new valve is expanded, it pushes the old valve leaflets out of the way and the tissue in the replacement valve takes over ( i.e. takes the place of the function of all or a portion of a body part).
Others feel it should be "supplement" (i.e. physically reinforces and / or augments the function of a portion of a body part.
Does anyone know of an ICD-10 reference for coding this procedure?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Here are two resources one from the manufacturer Medtronic and MLN from CMS providing guidance.
It is most often replacement.

Any issues with diagnoses of acute heart failure being documented at the reason for the procedure? We are questioning it because they are coming in for elective procedure.
