Remote and/or Weekend CDI

We are looking at ways we can improve CDI productivity and coverage at our facility. I just wanted to ask the group if you or someone from your CDI team work from home (full time or part time), and if there is weekend CDI coverage (remote or not)? Any information you can share regarding your experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

    We have a couple people who work on weekends (one at home) because that is their preference. However, this does not impact productivity for us. We have a geographic coverage model so those working weekends are simply reviewing cases from the units they are responsible for. All units are not covered 2-3 days a week (some of our CDI's work 10hr shifts). This doesn't seem to impact our overall coverage though.

    2/5 of the team work remotely.

    No weekend coverage

    5 staff for 7 hospitals across N. California, and we review samples.

    We provide on-site education at designated intervals...I view remote as a necessity in this era of electronic records, staffing shortages, and high living expenses in some parts of the USA.
