computer set ups

Hi - we are trying to get a new program up and running. As many of you already experienced, space to set up our laptops on the units is challenging. Is anyone using any of the computer carts on wheels? Favorite brands or features we should consider?

I look forward to your ideas and suggestions. I have already bragged to my new team mates about the valuable information on CDI Talk - the sum of our parts makes us brilliant!

Thanks,

I use an AV cart which has 2 shelves. It is small enough to move around easily and big enough to hold both my laptop and a chart. It might not work for someone who is tall and has long legs. :)

Our Physical Therapy Dept. does not really like it because I am not ergonomically correct.

I have a wonderful cart. It moves up and down so I can stand or sit with it. It has room for the laptop, keyboard and workspace for the actual chart. I even have a small shelf that holds a printer. And it has a locked drawer. It is from Ergotron. Probably pricey but it is lightweight for wheeling. I take it to all of the floors and on and off the elevators.

I have a cart that moves up or down so that I may sit or stand. It has room for my laptop and cubby down below that is perfect for charts, extra pens and my paperwork. It was very inexpensive to purchase. The only drawback has been that the wheels are small so I have to take care entering the elevator.

Right now we squirrel away in the Drs. Dictation room. I have a rolling computer bag. Our new building has some extra space that I could use, but I like being in the dictation room where I can get to my docs easily. They seem to know I'm going to be there and take it in stride.

If it gets crowded I leave iimmediately and give them my space. That's the nice thing about what we do. I can grab my reports and review by hand for a while if necessary.

Howeverm I'm very interested in the rest of the comments regarding the mobile computer desks.

Do you take them with you each morning or do you leave them on your respective floors for storage?

  • Not a cart suggestion, but this is the best rolling computer bag ever! It has an attached seat! So if you can use an overbed table on the unit, you can carry your laptop, cords, books, whatever, and have your chair, too!

I have this bag - wonderful for travel: fits in the overhead, is lightweight, and holds a ton of stuff.
