Identifying patient safety indicators prebilling in software
We are attempting to identify PSIs that have not been reviewed concurrently (we do not yet have enough CDS staff to review 100% of admissions) prior to final billing. Has anyone been able to create programs in their encoder software that flags the coder to put the bill on hold when a chart is a potential PSI? For example coder codes the chart, the codes include codes that would flag for PSI #13 (an elective surgery+sepsis with POA of no), the encoder software recognizes this and then prompts coder to put chart on hold for 2nd level review.
We have spoken with our vendor, but I curious if there is anyone else out there doing this.

Do you know if that PSI flag must be placed by a current reviewer or if the software is capable of recognizing it itself?
Are you currently using 360 for identifying PSIs?
360 will identify the PSI's for you when doing concurrent reviews or when the coder is final coding the record if it's a chart that CDI hasn't reviewed. They will populate on the indicators dashboard. Once you open the case you can see denominator/numerator data, inclusion and exclusion criteria, etc.. the AHRQ rules are built into 360.
