Decubitus ulcers
Hello,
I was recently told that we no longer need to query the Physician for the location of a decubitus ulcer. As lone as the Physician states that there is an ulcer, thereby giving us the decubitus ulcer dx, we can take not only the stage but also the location from other healthcare providers such as around care nurse. They are basing this on an excerpt from the article from hcpro.com that is Titled: "tip-coding-pressure -ulcers", which in turn came from briefings on APCs. Can anyone confirm this as fact? We do not need to query for location anymore?
