Cerner Final vs Preliminary Documents

We have transitioned to only coding from final documents. We are having a bit on conundrum with cerner. We have providers that work in both the inpatient and outpatient areas. For PAS and FNPs that work in the outpatient setting, they don't need a co-signor for their documentation but because they also work in the inpatient setting, their credentials mandate co-signing. Therefore, documents they create in the outpatient setting are unable to be "final signed" by them and still show as preliminary in the system. Has anyone else come across this difficulty and found a solution. Right now, we are leaving it to the coders to identify if the document is an inpatient or outpatient document and determine whether or not they can code it as it is FINAL document.
