Elevator Speech

I met our new Director of Quality today and tried to explain how we could be allies but she did not seem to understand how our interests overlap.
Does anyone have a 1-2 sentence "elevator speech" to explain what CDI is?  I feel like I always ramble on when asked.  How about a catchy slogan - something you might use in an email signature or on a business card?
Thanks everyone!

  • Here is feedback from our newest CDI specialist, Alli DeCausemacker, BSN, RN - who has developed her 'elevator speech'   -- It's 3 sentences....2 options below.....Alli credits the paint by numbers analogy to her colleague, Kellie Halsted, MSN/MHA, RN, CCM, CDI Specialist.

    Elevator Speech:

"We are here to support the team and ensure that all of the great diagnoses get captured.  Think of the chart/patient as a puzzle and each diagnosis represents a piece of that puzzle. If the diagnosis (puzzle piece) isn’t written in a coding compliant way then it doesn’t fit into the puzzle (e.g. urosepsis vs. sepsis d/t a urinary source).

Or you can use the paint by numbers analogy. " The painting is the patient/chart.  Each diagnosis represents a color on the painting. You don’t want extra colors (diagnoses) because that doesn’t fit, but you don’t want to miss any of the colors either as the painting (chart) won’t be complete. "
