Inpatient Lap Band adjustment
I have patient admitted with acute renal failure, also with abdominal pain during admission attributed to malposition of the existing gastric band. Treatment included the surgeon removing fluid from the gastric band at the bedside. I am currently discussing with the coder the correct PCS code for this. Does anyone have any insight on the proper coding of the adjustment of the lap band....we do not usually see this on the inpatient side. A revision code moves this to Extensive OR procedure not related to Pdx. Do we simply use a Z-code and not PCS?
