Reviewing OB Charts
I am looking to see if anyone reviews OB charts. If you do - do review all patients. Including the c-sections and vaginal deliveries?? We are looking to review them in the future but anted to see what others are doing!!
Thanks!!

Hi Meghan,
We review our patients who are being followed by our maternal-fetal-medicine specialists, otherwise known at our facility as our "high-risk obstetric" patients. The CDI Specialist assigned to this service line does not review patients on the "normal" post-partum floor where patient's without co-morbid conditions or complications go. We deliver the most babies in our region and filter all of those out. We try to target those that are on this service because they are being followed for a maternal or fetal condition most likely impacting the pregnancy. We also review all of our GYN surgeries with LOS > 2 days and GYN ONC patients. We presented on this at last years Conference and I am attaching that presentation.
Feel free to reach out if you have further questions. I know more and more people are beginning to review OB charts.
Thanks,
Jeff (jwmorris@health.southalabama.edu)
