My understanding is that various valvular disorders do cause systolic/diastolic heart failure, depending upon the particular valve. Here is an excellent site and resource speaking to that issue. Lengthy and technical and can't address via this forum, but there is a good guide here classifying the valvular disoders and hemodynamic consequences.
