catheter cystitis
I'm not sure where to go with this one. Physician is documenting Catheter cystitis.
Pt presented with gross hematuria and renal mass. Foley x1 day, and then reinserted same day as it was removed (kept in x2 more days). UA was abnormal but UC was negative – and this was before they even put in the first foley. No UA/culture repeated. Pt had cystoscopy and Md writes “catheter cystitis” – also writes “swelling in the left trigone consistent with? Catheter cystitis”. Catheter cystitis is documented in further notes and on the DC summary as “catheter induced cystitis”
Do I code this as cystitis with hematuria or is the T code (T83511A, the HAC code) more appropriate?
