Grip test for malnutrition
I have a question on hand grip testing for malnutrition. Do our RD’s need to use a device for the test?
Per my CDI’s question “The grip strength in our past and currently is on the criteria – grip measured “per the devices standards” – I have questioned the RD and Rehab and this hospital does not use this device.”
Comments
There is education available for RD's called the Nutrition Based Physical Exam. Hand dynamometers are not expensive and would likely provide valuable support for the diagnosis of malnutrition.
