Sepsis with acute respiratory failure and pneumonia
Our hospital uses Sepsis 3 criteria. My CDI physician advisor feels that the organ dysfunction or failure has to be remote from the infectious source. Thus, acute respiratory failure with pneumonia would not count towards the SOFA score as it is in the same body system as the source of infection. Does anyone have any information on this?
