Coding 1:1 supervision of patients
A question was raised today if we should be coding 1:1 supervision when documented for patients. It would make sense to code it for utilization of resources. It’s doesn’t directly fall under social determinant coding but there is a code, Z74.3 Need for Continuous Supervision Required, that looks like it would fit. However, I can’t find a definition for this code and if it would be appropriate. Anyone have ideas or suggestions?
