  • Question.  Can Hypertensive heart failure i110 be used a the PDX, and the acute systolic or diastolic heart failure be used as the MCC?

No Chronic kidney disease is evolved.

  • Per the code book I110 is used and then an additional code is needed to identify the type of heart failure. If I110 meets the definition of a PDX then yes, it can be used.

  • When you use I11.0 as your PDX it does not make the acute systolic or diastolic heart failure a MCC.  That only happens with I13.0Hypertensive heart and chronic kidney disease, which would also require both the acute heart failure and the chronic kidney disease
