Complication at J-tube site

Need some advice on how to code a complication at J-tube site.  Patient had J-tube removed in MD's office (after having a Whipple).  Went home and started to experience fatigue and breathing heavier and reddish BMs.  Admit to hospital, EGD showed significant edema, ulcerations and evidence for recent bleeding at site of j-tube entry into the efferent limb.  This area was injected with Epi.  I have it coded to T85838A  Hemorrhage due to other internal prosthetic device, implant or graft.  Coder has it to K9411 Enterostomy hemorrhage.  Any thoughts on which is correct?  I do have a query to clarify if j-tube is the direct cause of bleeding vs surgical process post Whipple.

  • Just an update for anyone who read my question and was stumped.  I queried to confirm cause of limb bleeding.  Confirmed it was d/t device (j--tube), hence ended up coding to hemorrhage d/t device.
