CDI Educator

Saw a job posting recently on ACDIS Job board (copied below).

Also heard from another hospital "We are in the process of hiring an ICD-10 educator for CDI/coding and everyone else."

Looks like a very interesting role, and I would love to hear how it works out (as well as why it is being launched in the first place & more detail information about the plans for the role).

Anyone else have these type of dedicated positions?

Job Description: Clinical Documentation Educator works with the Clinical Documentation Nurses and Manager to assist in obtaining physician documentation on Inpatient records to capture the true severity of illness and risk of mortality. Answers coding/MS DRG/documenation questions for the RN's on the floor via the phone. Provides monthly education for the CDI nurses and assists with coding education. Reviews designated charts from high focus areas such as HACs and RAC audits. Serves as member on designated teams to provide clinical staff with MS DRG information. Conducts presentations for physician/physician groups on MS DRGs, trends and documentation needs. Assists managers in creating queries, flyers, articles and education on MS DRGs and documentation tips. Works closely with CDI Manager, Coding Manager, and Coding Educator. Assists in obtaining outstanding queries from physicians and answers physician questions. Required- RHIT, CCS Preferred- RHIA/CCS
