Accountable Care Organizations

Not sure if you've all seen this yet but CMS just released information relative to the formation of "Accountable Care Organizations", which after reading some of the information, leads me to believe that CDI will become even more important (although I think we're wonderful now! *smile*)

It's another step in the P4P (pay for performance) programs supported by Health Reform. Hospitals will have a (even more) vested interest in accurate reporting of data since the data is to be accrued over a period of years for facilities to qualify as an ACO.

    Thanks, let's hope this raises the CDIS' awareness of the need to capture complete, accurate, and effective clinical documentation besides "CCs/MCCs"
