Pressor administration for SOFA
Good Morning,
I’m continuing with my project on calculating SOFA scores and need some assistance with computing the cardiovascular portion. This project has a limited data set, so I don’t have access to medication orders or nursing notes. I’m pretty much just using physician documentation. Often times, in these particular records, the physician will document patient is getting pressors of some sort, but doesn’t go into detail about how much exactly. If the exact amount is not documented would the lowest score possible for that particular medication be given? For example documentation states “Norepinephrine Infusion”, no further information on how much and for how long. The minimum score for norepinephrine medication is a 3 for the cardiovascular portion of the SOFA score. Is it acceptable to score this a 3 without any documentation of how much?
Thank you in advance for any guidance and assistance.
Laura
