Regarding the dietary coding, I agree that demonstrating treatment or resources used is important. We have electronic nursing documentation and I worked with our IT reps for nursing software to build a section for nursing to include use of bariatric equipment and number of staff needed to transfer or turn the patient. If dietary documents these findings as part of the record then I assume they are also making recommendations for treatment, which would be necessary-calorie count, calorie restriction or dietary supplements for malnutrition.
