GCS scores and Coma
Since the new guidelines allow GCS scores to only be captured with traumatic brain injuries, I am looking for other ways to capture SOI/ROM. When is it appropriate to query for coma? I was taught and have references that a total GCS score of 8 or below signifies coma.
Ex: obtunded is documented by provider and nursing documents GCS and total score is <8, perhaps even 3. This lasts for more than 24 hours, it's not transient. Is this enough to query?
