Acute Liver Failure

Can you help me with this? My colleagues and I have different interpretations and we are trying to figure out what is the most accurate viewpoint.

If a patient has a known cirrhosis that acutely worsens, can we query for acute liver failure? Or is the fact that they have a known cirrhosis within the past 26 weeks something that excludes the diagnosis?
