Bipolar disorder severity

are there any references that help guide a provider in documenting the severity for:

-Bipolar disorder, current episode manic with/without psychotic features ---> (mild, moderate, severe)

I assume the depressed type uses the same assessment tool as MDD.

is there a similar guide for the manic type?
