AKI/CKD 4 with new ESRD
The patient is admitted with AKI on CKD 4. He is non-compliant with medication regimes as well as physician follow up. Nephrology says he has likely progressed to ESRD, HD cath inserted and starts on HD during the stay. Do you code AKI and ESRD?
