Query Response Time

Hello there! I have several questions related to benchmarking in relation to query response time.

  1. Does your CDI Program have an expected, and/or average query response time?
  2. If there is a standard expected query response time what is it?
  3. Is it differentiated by clinician group?
  4. Do you differentiate query response time for retrospective vs concurrent queries?
  5. Is the query response time reported to your executive leadership?
  6. What is the primary method utilized for submitting queries and for the clinician to respond (i.e. via EHR)?

Any additional feedback will be greatly appreciated? Thank you!

Sincerely, Carrie Mayfield, RN, MSN, CCDS

  • Hi Carrie!

    1. Yes
    2. Within 48 hours
    3. No--although some groups are better than others, we have done tons of work around our hospitalist group and achieved great things, they have the bulk of patients/queries so it was worth the effort to initially focus on them.
    4. Yes
    5. Yes and to the physician leadership
    6. Via EHR as a progress note

Would be happy to discuss how we achieved this success if you want. Feel free to contact me. kmhill@nmhs.net
