Transient Neonatal Thrombocytopenia
We have a NP in the NICU that loves the diagnosis transient neonatal thrombocytopenia. We have had several denials. Usually it's listed as mild, and there isn't any treatment for it. Daily labs are done, but these labs would be even without the diagnosis of transient thrombocytopenia. It changes the DRG to 793. Does it qualify as a secondary diagnosis? How would you defend it if there is a denial? Thanks for any help!
