HF and HTN Combo Codes and ACSC hits
It may just be our population; however, we have had increased admissions for Hypertensive Heart Failure Cases. If the patient has hypertensive heart failure, and the doctor notes that it is the Principal Diagnosis, we know it will get sequenced first with the combo code.
Our Cardiologists are frustrated for the ACSC hits.
We are educating them that if the two are not related, that they need to note that in the chart. Other than that, there's little we can do.
How are others handling this? How are heart failure codes being sequenced? Is it a Non-Issue for your facility?
