New ICD-10 morbid obesity codes
How is everyone dealing with the new obesity codes. These new codes are not mapping to an HCC but describe the same classifications as E66.01 - that does.
- E66.812 Class 2 Obesity: BMI ≥ 35.0 to less than 40.0
- E66.813 Class 3 Obesity: BMI ≥ 40.0
These new codes will replace older codes (e.g., E66.01, E66.09), ensuring that the new classification system is integrated into clinical practice moving forward. Frustrating that ICD-10 updates do not coincide with HCC mapping updates.
