Pediatrician engagement with CDI
I work for a mid-sized health system that has a pediatric hospital (attached to an adult hospital, both technically one hospital in total) and newborns at all 6 hospital sites. Our hospitalized pediatric patients are managed by hospital employed physicians, surgeons, and subspecialists, with a small number of private practice consultants and a contracted intensivist service. Our newborns are primarily managed by community pediatricians or our contracted neonatal intensivist group (2 NICU sites). We have a very strong group of experienced pediatric RNs working in CDI reviewing medical records (ED, PICU, NICU, Procedural, med/surg backgrounds - all having previously worked on site at the main pediatric hospital in the system). We struggle with physician agree rates and engagement. What has worked for your teams to improve Physician engagement in the CDI process (with or without a pediatric specific physician advisor)?
