Possible/Probable Malignancy without Path report
How do your systems handle reporting possible/probable malignancy when the patient did not have a bx on this admission, directed to have the biopsy as an outpatient?
According to Coding Rules possible/probable diagnoses documented on the day of discharge can be reported as confirmed.
A cancer dx however can have impacts on the patient such as life insurance, and LT disability insurance.
