problem lists

I think this was discussed at one time here but I couldn't find it in the history. We use Meditech for our EHR & I have a physician that has asked me if I could populate the problem list in Meditech for him so he knows what to include in his progress notes & discharge summaries. He has a hard time/doesn't have enough time to do it & said it would be easier for him if I could do it for him. I thought that some CDS did do this but I wanted to know your thoughts on this & how you exactly you choose what diagnoses to use in the usually long list of current, active, chronic, past hx of, etc diagnoses.
