Re:AIHCD-Association for Integrity in HealthcareDocumentation

I think it is very worth while to take a look at the requirements for
the certification.
Time working as a CDS? Outline of test content? Associated
professional degree / license? CEU ongoing education?

I do believe that there is a value to be recognized for specific
certifications and I feel that both the forthcoming AHIMA CDIP and the
CCDS are worthy of respect and value. Not as convinced that the C-CDI
warrants an equal level of value or respect (but it may warrant a lessor
value, just not sure since I've not examined that closely).

From what I can see on the Docucomp website, the C-CDI is a couple of
days seminar/education, take the exam & that's it. Can't find anything
regarding other requirements or ongoing education for renewal.

The AHIMA certification requires: An RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or RN and
two (2) years experience in clinical documentation improvement
OR an Associate’s degree or higher and three (3) years of experience
in clinical documentation improvement (candidates must also have
completed coursework in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology).
Further, it would seem reasonable to assume there will be ongoing
requirements for renewal as there is for the RHIA, CCS, etc.

CCDS is similar (experience, renewal, exam statistical analysis and
confidence, open development process, etc.).
