Katy, I've had the same issue with ABLA on CVOR cases. While it doesn't
impact HealthGrades any longer, most CV surgeons/programs use the STS
(Society of Thoracic Surgeons) database. I believe it is a ding by their
criteria. Not positive, but relatively sure. They also get dinged for
documenting delirium by STS standards. FYI... You might ask in the CVU
to see if someone there monitors for STS. They can check for you and get
you the operational definitions from the database. I have them here
somewhere but working less one staff today and have to get with it! Have
