Blog Post -- PEPPER
The PEPPER report might be THE best free, standardized, very well done tool that any CDS or CDI program (IMHO) can utilize & absolutely must review and take action upon.
There have been several great pieces written through ACDIS, with the most recent posted today by Renee on the ACDIS Blog:
http://blogs.hcpro.com/acdis/2011/11/a-peck-of-pepper-part-1/
ACDIS On Line Poll: Do you as a CDI program have access to and use your hospital's PEPPER report?
http://www.hcpro.com/acdis/view_readerpoll_results.cfm?quiz_id=2213
25% did not know what it was, 22% wanted but did not have access, 17% review & benchmark, 20% review, 10% review infrequently & 5% choose to not use.
Take a look -- and follow the links, all worth while. She also discusses how she has operationalized the report, interpretation & conduction audits, etc. From the end of the post, sounds like there will be more to come.
Even more importantly, get it, read it & USE it!
How many folks have access to it? and use it?
What have you done with it that has been especially helpful?
