RE: [MARKETING] Orientation/Training for Documentation Specialist

When our program began two and a half years ago we were trained by the consulting company DCBA.
I don't remember exactly how long the training lasted, but it was roughly three days a week for about six weeks.
They gave us a manual to read, provided educational lectures to the CDI staff, coding staff and physicians, as well as did hours of chart reviews.
DCBA still comes back occasionally for follow up visits.
We have just hired a new CDI specialist who will start in two weeks.
I am interested to see how her training process will vary from mine.
Since I am currently the only CDI as my colleague retired a few months ago, I assume I will be providing a lot of on the job training. My supervisor and I have yet to discuss the new employee's training process.
DCBA will be returning for their next site visit in December so I am sure they will be providing some additional training at that point as well....
