CMTI

Is anyone else paticipating in Case Management Transitional Initiative promoted by a consulting group named Marsh at their facility? Since May of this year our facility has been planning to roll this out. I am told it will include case managers placing queries on charts in addition to Clinical Documentation Specialists.

  • I personally don't know anything about it but found information about the program at the site below:

They also had a PDF of their brochure, which is too big to attach but you can download here:

Sounds a lot like a blended CDI/CM model. It would be interesting to see how this plays out since we haven't heard of too many successful CDI/CM models - or at least, I haven't.

No, but we used to do it that way before we had an official CDI team. I was a CM then and it was difficult to perform my CM duties and try to remember DI too. I basically placed only the blaring queries. That was also back when we were only taught to query for CCs (before MCCs came along). We now query the overall record as CDIS.

Thanks. I've reviewed all the available "public" information prior. I
also worked in a facility where this approach was attempted in previous
years. It was an abysmal failure.
