Cerner and Electronic Queries

I am wondering if other hospitals are using an electronic query system in conjuction with Cerner. We are going live with a fully electronic record in February and needing to set up an electronic query process to work with it. Currently, do reviews electronically (for the most part) and then place paper queries in the chart.

Anyone else using a process that works?

are queries tagged to the patient or the physician?
how are physicians notified, etc?

Thanks,
Katy

While I am dearly hoping and btw, have been practically begging to get
this started, we are currently in about the same position. Cerner is
the platform in which things reside including Power Chart. Our IS dept.
seems overloaded with work and unable to get to my requests although
they say it is a build they can perform. So I am fascinated to hear how
    your experience goes.

They are telling me the query can be sent to the particular Power Chart
account where the physicians will see it in the Inbox, respond
electronically and the response will reside within Power Chart where the
coders will be able to see it. We will look for the response in Power
    Chart.

However, that is all THEORY right now. And yes I am not beyond begging.

  • Our organization is in the building process for CERNER EHR as well. Our go-live date is next June 23rd. I would like to participate in future discussions regarding the query process with CERNER, and would like Donna and Katie to keep in touch and I will do the same. Thanks.

That process is working in our Cerner system. The build does not seem difficult if using the Cerner pre-built queries. Make sure the physician education includes how to modify (answer) the query before signing as it is not intuitive for the physicians.

We are also in the process of CERNER EHR. Our system won't be completely EHR until 2013 but I would also like to be involved in these discussions.
    Thanks. Gina
