AHIMA Test

Just curious, has anyone yet taken the CDIP exam thru AHIMA?

I took it on Dec 8. You can find the thread containing my feedback in the CDI-Talk section on the ACDIS website. All in all, not so bad, but completely different than the CCDS test.

    Mark,
I went to the ACDIS site under CDI-talk but no threads were listed.
Did you feel it tested your function as a CDS or more coding oriented?

Definitely more as a CDS, not so much in coding though there were question on selecting principal dx, proper DRG placement, some coding guidelines. More of the test was group dynamics and group theory as well as adult educational theory. I PM’ed you the thread. I can post here if anybody else wants to see it again.

    12/8/2011:

Ok, I took the CDIP test today. Their code of ethics and their copyright precludes me talking much about it, but overall, it wasn't so bad.

It will take up to 3 months for me to get the results as they have to aggregate all the data, compare everyone who took the test, perform data analysis on the questions, and then decide what is a passing score to then report the scores and passing status to the beta candidates. Phew, that was a mouthful.

The test was 175 questions, had 4 hours to do it. I completed the test in 2hr15min, and spent the next 40 minutes reviewing my answers. I only changed 3 answers. There were about 10 questions that I had absolutely no idea, but could at least narrow down to two answers.

All multiple choice, no books or any other resource allowed. No study manual. To prepare I read Russo's book, CCDS study guide (again), all AHIMA guidance articles, Coding Guidelines, HCPCS Guidelines, CPT Guidelines, and some other resources I came across. I felt pretty prepared. Let's hope my score validates my feelings!

    Regards,

    Mark
