Have you seen see this... it's cute
Twas the Night Before Year End...
Twas the night before year end, and the HIM staff was still lurking.
Not a person was leaving, for they were still working!
The records were scanned and indexed with care,
In hopes the Coders soon would be there.
The Transcriptionists were weary but their jobs were completed.
So, off to bed they quickly retreated.
While the Coders were longing for rest in their beds,
Diagnosis and procedure codes danced in their heads.
With the unbilled in her left hand and her blackberry in her right,
the boss shouted out "We've got just 50 left to call it good night!"
When down the hall there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the Doctors Lounge I flew like a flash,
I picked up a chart out of the Chief of Staff's stash.
"You have five charts to complete before you can go.
Just indicate your response on the line down below!"
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But clarity from documentation that once was unclear!
With the stroke of his pen, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he'd seen our CDI flick!
More rapid than eagles his words they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Acute! Now, Chronic! Now, Deficiency and Staging!
On, Systolic! On, Diastolic! This specificity is Amazing!
To the bottom of the pile! These queries shall fall!
Then I'll dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
So into the abstracts, the Coders they flew,
With a chart full of documentation and their coding guidelines too.
And then, in a twinkling, the list began to fall.
Then dancing and prancing was broke out by all!
Their eyes how they twinkled! Their dimples how merry!
And the boss thanked her team as they gathered quite tarry!
"We did it again!" with pride they shouted.
"Of course you did! Not once were you doubted!
With a wink of her eye and a twist of her head,
Soon let me to know I had nothing to dread.
So, we gathered our purses, and headed for our cars,
as we left the building to a sky full of stars.
Then I heard the Director exclaim, 'ere we drove out of sight,
"Happy New Year to all, and to all a Good Night!"
