chemo coding question
Hi-Can someone out there answer a question? Here's the situation: Lately
we have had several patients admitted for high-dose Cytarabine. One of
our CDS nurses thinks that procedure code 00.15 is the correct code for
this procedure. My interpretation is that 00.15 can only be used for
high-dose interleukin 2. Since Cytarabine is an antimetabolite, I don't
think 00.15 is the correct code.
What is the correct procedure code for high-dose Cytarabine?

I reviewed the drug reference on 3M and would agree with you that code 00.15 would not be correct to use for the administration of Cytarabine.
It would be my suggestion that the CDS professional or yourself contact the oncology physician and discuss the drug usage with him or her.
