Pressure Ulcers/DTI Stages I and II

Is it appropriate to query the MD for Pressure Ulcers stages I and II (POA) for coding, but will not impact the DRG?

    Yes.  It is important to have an accurate chart, not just to capture cc's and mcc's.

    Too emphasize: by querying for those items that don't have an impact on DRG assignment (and further, also don't have influence in [most] risk adjustment models) directly serves to demonstrate one's commitment for an accurate coding picture of the patient's clinical condition. 

    We all do need to balance that accurate picture with provider 'query fatigue' as well as keeping in mind which conditions are clinically relevant ...

    A compliance booster in a sense.
