Find the Query Response- Epic

Hello all, I am wondering if anyone that is using Epic currently has something built in that make a response to a query NOTICABLE in the record.

We just started using Epic in November. We are still working with them and our IT team to get it where we want it, to flow with our needs. I am spending so much time reading back over a record trying to see where the physician responded to my query. Meaning, they make an "addendum" to the record but sometimes that is just one word added in the body of the document or sometimes it is in the diagnosis list . . . IDK, it seems cumbersome searching for what they added sometimes. There have been more than a few times where the physician checks off the query with "this is already done" and I cannot find an actual response in the record for anything. We asked out team if it was possible for them to bold what the physician writes when they make an addendum but in the end we were told no.

Does anyone using Epic have a way built in that shows you the response in the record, without having to hunt for it?

Thank you for any help!

  • Hello :) so there's no way to have Epic show you or have it built in that I'm aware of. It's something my team has asked about as well. The easiest way we find those changes and addendum words is to first - look at the bottom of the note and make sure a revision was actually done, it'll say "revision history" with a little double drop-down arrow. That lets us know something was changed. Then in the upper right corner of the note where it has checked " written, templated, copied", we uncheck templated and copied (leave written checked) and then you will be able to see what specifically the provider wrote in themselves, those 1-2 words they might have changed for the query answer. If that doesn't work then we check "copied" in case they copied a phrase from the query and pasted it into the new note, etc. That's been the easiest way for us. But sometimes we still don't see anything, and we respond back to the provider "thank you so much for your response but I don't see any change in your documentation, could you let me know where you addended your note?". That usually helps in case they forgot. Hope this helps :)
