Hi everyone, I am new here. I am seeking advice on transitioning into a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) role and eventually pursuing the CCDS credential. I'm an International Medical Graduate (MD) and currently working as a Registered Nurse in Medical-Surgical Acute In-patient setting. While I don't have formal CDS experience yet, I have strong clinical knowledge and daily exposure to inpatient documentation, diagnoses and care planning. I'd love guidance on: How realistic it is to enter CDS without prior CDI experience Recommend steps to break into the field I'm very motivated to learn and would truly appreciate any insights or shared experiences.
