General Inpatient Hospice

Do you review and query general inpatient hospice charts? For instance a hosice patient was admitted in respiratory failure, AKI, Acute on chronic CHF, none of which were documented.

  • If they are truly GIP patients with an order for such (not just comfort care or palliative care without a GIP order), then no, we do not review or query as they are paid for by the hospice in the form of a daily rate.

    We do the same
  • Thank you. So, GIP Hospice doesn't count against our mortality rate?

Hospice is the only thing that doesn't the last time I checked.   You are going to get hammered for your palliative/DNR/Comfort patients who die if nothing is documented on them.
  • Ok great!  Thank you very much.
